Kiela III on state best-ball title team

The championship match was decided in sudden-victory fashion with Kiela III and Wettstein defeating Charles Maleki and Trevor Thomas on the third extra hole with a par-3

21st overall hole in the match).

Kiela III, a 2011 Plymouth High School graduate and WIAA Division 2 boys state golf medalist that year, finished ninth in the 2016 WSGA State Amateur Championship, held July 18-21 at the North Shore Golf Club in Menasha. He scored a

5-over-par 285 in the 72-hole tournament.

The State Amateur champion was Nick Nelson of Milwaukee with a 4-under-par 276.

Kiela III was a Magna cum laude graduate from UW-Green Bay this past spring with a B.A. degree in business administration. He was named the UW-GB Male Athlete of the Year for the spring of 2016.

He played the No. 1 spot for the

Phoenix men’s golf team this past spring and was second-team All-Horizon League this year with four topfive finishes in league tourney play. 1, 2013
