This new event, set for Saturday, Sept. 17, is sponsored by Plymouth School District Community Education and Recreation.

“This challenge was created with the entire community in mind,” said district recreation & fitness coordinator Clayton Moore. “Families and individuals alike are encouraged to try out some of the assets at PHS that are available for the community to use during school and Community Ed and Rec events.

“This is a competition only in the fact that we are keeping track of time,” he added. “The goal is to have fun and try something new in the process.”

Individual and team awards will be based on average times on the three events:

Ropes: Each participant will get one attempt to reach the top of the climbing wall. Every foot short of the top adds 5 seconds to time.

Pool: Any technique is allowed. Youngsters may use flotation devices, and anyone may use snorkels. The pool is 25 meters in length. Youngsters (ages 8-12) will swim 100 meters. Youths (ages 12-17) will swim 150 meters. Adults (ages 18- 61) and Seniors (ages 62+) will swim 200 meters.

Track: Participants will run or walk laps; each lap is 400 meters in length. Youngsters will go 800 meters; all others will go 1,600 meters.

Entry fees, which include a T-shirt, are $20 for individuals, $35 for a couple, $50 for a team of three, $60 for a team of four, $70 for a team of five, and $80 for a team of six. Registrations should be received by Sept. 1 to guarantee a shirt, but will be taken until Sept. 13.
