Knaus, Bagnall all-league first team

Plymouth’s Cade Knaus and Howards Grove’s Matthew Bagnall earned all-conference first-team honors in boys golf for the 2016 season.

Knaus, a sophomore, competed in the East Central Conference and ranked fourth in the league in points which determined the all-conference golfers. Knaus scored 60 points which are based on the finishes in the ECC’s mini-meets and 18-hole tournament. He tied for third in the 18-hole tourney.

Kewaskum’s Sam Schlosser heads the All-ECC first team with 71 points and was the league tourney medalist.

Bagnall, a junior, played in the Big East Conference and finished fourth in the point standings which were used to determine the All-BEC picks. Bagnall totaled 49 points which are a combination of places in the league’s meets, including the 18- hole tourney.

Grant Boyson of St. Mary Catholic (Neenah) leads the All-BEC first team with 71.5 points. Boyson was the league tournament’s runner-up medalist behind Mishicot’s Austin Schnell who is a first-team player.

PHS junior Jake Willeford is on the All-ECC second unit. The Panthers have four honorable-mention golfers – juniors Cole Bogenschuetz and Alex Shutter and sophomores Josh Klister and Connor Laehn.

The Panthers placed second in the overall ECC race behind Kewaskum.

HG has three other players who earned All-BEC honors – senior Layne Gustafson, sophomore Mason Valenstein and freshman Jack Baldwin on the second team.

Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah has three All-BEC golfers, each honorable mention, in junior Brennen Cain and sophomores Dante Miller and Sam Lutzke.

Sheboygan Lutheran won the overall BEC championship in a tiebreaker over HG.
