This granting program provides funding to be used expressly for efforts to feed the hungry of Sheboygan County and in support of programs to lead to self-sufficiency.

Cash donations shared by attendees of the 2015 Making Spirits Bright holiday lights show served as the source of funding for the Making Spirits Bright grant program. In addition to monetary donations, in 2015, 73,000 pounds of food, the equivalent of a five-month food supply of canned goods and other nonperishable items, were donated and then delivered to local food banks.

Recipients of the Making Spirits Bright grants are: Sheboygan County Food Bank, Sheboygan County Human Rights Association, Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Sheboygan County, Sheboygan County YMCA, Fresh Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan County, and RCS Empowers. A total of $44,250 is being distributed to these worthy organizations through this granting effort.

A check in the amount of $25,000 has been presented to the Sheboygan County Food Bank, a partner and main recipient of the Making Spirits Bright Inc. efforts. These funds are to be used for healthy foods, special dietary needs and nontraditional products.

Making Spirits Bright is a drive-through holiday lights show in Sheboygan’s Evergreen Park, running during evening hours in November and December 2016.

Making Spirits Bright is a service project of the three Rotary Clubs of Sheboygan County, initiated to collect pantry items for the Sheboygan County Food Bank and to provide an exciting, affordable and quality family event.
