Chicago-based band Funkadesi will headline at the free Thursday, Aug. 18, Levitt AMP Sheboygan Music Series concert at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

The band blends Indian music, “bhangra, Bollywood, Indian folk,” with reggae, funk, and Afro-Caribbean grooves. Their one-world sound and positive vibe makes the band a unique and compelling musical force. Known as a party band, they also spread a mes- sage of togetherness.

A six-time winner of the Chicago Music Awards, Funkadesi has been hailed by Time Magazine, and even caught the attention of President Barack Obama who said, “Funkadesi really knows how to get a crowd fired up! There’s a lot of funk in that desi!”

Opening the evening is The Electra Color, an indie dance pop group out of Appleton, WI, influenced by 80s new wave as well as UK indie pop music.
