Ed Kastelic, age 93 of Plymouth passed away peacefully at his home on Monday evening (August 8, 2016).

Ed was born on September 20, 1922 on Race Track Road in a farm house near Elkhart Lake, the son of the late Anton and Anna (Drott) Kastelic. The family then moved to Western Avenue in Plymouth, the street he called home for 90 years.

On September 20, 1947 he was united in marriage to the love of his life and his motorcycle riding partner, Isabelle Janssen. On their honeymoon, they rode their 1946 Indian Motorcycle cross country to California. Throughout their years together, they were blessed with 12 children.

In his youth, Ed loved the open road, traveling on his motorcycle. He was known especially by his family for his strong work ethic.

While working all his other jobs, he continued to be a newspaper delivery carrier, starting at the age of 10 and retiring as a motor carrier at the age of 87. He delivered newspapers for 77 years, a record that will likely never be broken.

Ed loved old country and especially polka music. He was a regular at polka music events and was a member of the “Born to Dance Club” and enjoyed following the Jerry Schneider Band.

He found happiness in life’s everyday simple things, like driving his 1966 Pontiac “Yellow Banana Boat” Convertible to the top of the Plymouth Ski Hill to watch the sunset.
