Alzheimer’s Walk at Evergreen Park

Hundreds of individuals, families, and members of the corporate and small business community will join together on Saturday, September 10 at Evergreen Park in Sheboygan for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the walk starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. Walkers will enjoy a scenic walk through beautiful Evergreen Park, plus all the pre and post- Walk festivities including a complimentary wiener lunch, entertainment, team photos, and the Purple Clubhouse activity area featuring family activities, temporary tattoos and a silly Purple selfie station.

The Opening Ceremony will include a special Promise Garden tribute to all those whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s.

Walk festivities open at 8:30 a.m. with music by RB Productions leading up to the walk. The Sheboygan North Cheerleader squad and the Kohler Drum Line will lead off the Walk.

A Silent Auction, plus a 50-50 raffle will be offered throughout the morning. Zumba instructor, Amanda Salazar will lead the warm ups.

After the walk, enjoy wieners, cookies and an assortment of other treats while listening to The Saddle Tramps, a local rock-a-billy country band. Food and refreshments are compliments of Old Wisconsin, Sargento, Watson Vending & Food Service, West Side Bakery, Festival Foods and others.

The Sheboygan County Walk is chaired by Lisa Hurley, Caregiver Coordinator with the Sheboygan County Aging & Disability Resouce Center; Erica Gollhardt, Admissions/Marketing Director with Golden LivingCenters – Shebogyan; and Jen Balge, Education Specialist and SPARK! Coordinator with John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

The Walk is also supported by a committee of local community leaders.

“Everyone in the memory care community is so excited about increasing the quality of life for those living with memory loss here in Sheboygan,” said Balge. “I’m happy and grateful that I’m able to contribute to that goal in a small way through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and through the SPARK! Program.”
