Late surge sparks North Shore past Resorters

The game was the Great 8 Conference South Division opener for both teams. The Resorters dropped to 1-1 overall while it was the season debut for North Shore.

Elkhart took a 16-14 lead in the third period when quarterback Jared Shaw scampered 27 yards for a touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Shaw to tight end Hunter Radloff.

North Shore’s scoring in the final quarter came on TD runs of 16 and 27 yards by Bernie Sander and a pair of two-point runs by Sam Leiter.

North Shore had a balanced attack with 165 yards passing and 182 rushing for a total of 347. The Resorters were held to just 165 in total offense, including 152 on the ground.

Sander sparked North Shore’s attack with 214 yards from scrim- mage which included a gamehigh 148 yards rushing and 66 receiving.

Junior running back Troy Rebedew led Elkhart rushers with 62 yards on nine carries, including an 11-yard TD burst in the second quarter.

Regan Dippel, a defensive lineman, paced the Resorters in solo tackles with seven.
