Schultz’s hat trick sparks Huskies’ rout

FISH CREEK – Senior forward Tyler Schultz scored a hat trick to lead New Holstein/Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah to a 7-1 rout over host Gibraltar/Sevastopol here Thursday night in boys soccer play.

Schultz, an Elkhart student, scored two goals in the first half and one early in the second. Jacob Starnicky (EL-G student) also kicked a goal in the opening half as the Huskies opened up a 3-0 halftime lead.

The match was the Eastern Wisconsin/Packerland Conference opener for NH/EL-G which improved to 1-1 overall. The Vikings slipped to 0-2 in the league (0-2 overall).

“We played well. We just need to work on our team communica- tion but improving daily yet,” said Husky head coach Steve Conrad.

Contributing one goal each for the Huskies were Josue Valenzuela, Evan Petrie and Dylen Eecker. Justin Schultz, Tyler’s younger brother, had a team-high two assists, including a corner kick to Ecker who headed the ball into the net.

The Huskies held a whopping 31-6 edge in shots on goal. NH/ EL-G goalies Jordan Bahr and Noah Koenigs combined for five saves.
