High-speed pursuit ends with arrest

Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department deputies were conducting a traffic stop in the parking lot of Kvindlog’s Services Inc., 104 S. Mill St., in Waldo Wednesday that led to a highspeed chase on State 57.

As the deputies were speaking to the operator of the vehicle, the operator sped off and a pursuit began.

The vehicle went southbound on State 57 from Waldo, where a pursuing deputy attempted the pursuit intervention technique (PIT) as the suspect attempted to perform a U-Turn at County F.

The PIT was unsuccessful and the suspect continued southbound on State 57, where another deputy was able to deploy spike strips, deflating the driver’s side tires on the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect continued southbound on State 57, then crossed the median and and started to travel southbound in the northbound lanes of State 57.

A deputy attempted another PIT and this time the suspect vehicle spun out into the median.

The suspect vehicle was able to leave the median and travel northbound on State 57 in the northbound lanes. Spike strips were again deployed on State 57 near County U and were successful in deflating the passenger side tires.

The suspect refused to stop and another PIT was utilized. The sus- pect vehicle finally stopped in the median after the PIT. The operator tried to flee on foot and would be ultimately taken into custody with the use of a taser.

The suspect vehicle and two squads were damaged as a result of the pursuit. There was no injuries to the suspect or any deputies. No other vehicles were damaged in the pursuit.

The suspect is currently being held at the Sheboygan County Dentention Center on a warrant from Probation and Parole, along with a warrant from Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect will be referred to the District Attorney’s office for charges of: eluding, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect’s name had not been released as of Wednesday morning and the incident remains under investigation.
