Eight homes featured in Builders Association tour

The Sheboygan County Home Builders Association expects over 2,000 people to tour the eight homes included in the annual Parade of Homes this year for two weekends Sept. 9-11, and again Sept. 16-18.

The Parade of Homes is a tour of newly constructed homes or remodeling projects found throughout Sheboygan County. Tickets are on sale now at locations throughout the county.

“Although building and remodeling has greatly increased in Sheboygan County I am not sure that 2,000 people are ready to build immediately, most are looking for ideas for a projects they may have in mind or to see what changes might be possible to their current home,” said Marsha Binder, executive director of the Sheboygan County Home Builders Association.

“Consumers want to see the latest in home building trends and the Parade of Homes is the place for that.”

Binder says this year’s entries have a lot to offer, including decorating tips, tours of new area developments, the ability to see the quality of a builder’s workmanship, along with viewing the trends in home design and amenities.

Home building contractors will be on hand to address any questions you might have about the home you are viewing or about the services their building company can provide.

“The Parade of Homes sparks dreams. You leave with so many ideas for projects or you might see the perfect floor plan for your lifestyle and decide to build new. It is never too early to plan a construction project. Planning is actually the hardest part of the project and that is what SCHBA members can help with,” says the association president, Jan Koepsell, Expedition Log Homes.

“SCHBA membership consists of representation for every facet of home construction projects. From the initial idea, land acquisition, financing through move in, decorating and landscaping, SCHBA is the source to select the professionals to complete your project no matter how large or small.”

Parade-goers can tour each home at their own pace and see as many or as few as they’d like during the six days of the show. Parade hours are Friday, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You need only one ticket which provides access to each home entered in this year’s tour. When arriving at the first home, buyers will receive a guide book detailing the features of each home and a map guiding visitors from one home to the next. The interactive guide book can be found online at the web site listed below.

Tickets can be purchased for $10 per person at any Parade home or for $8 at designated ticket sales sites throughout Sheboygan County including: Associated Banks, Bitter Neumann Appliance TV Furniture; Drexel Building Supply; Dulmes Décor; Kohler Credit Union(s); Macco’s Floor Covering Center Inc.; Oostburg Lumber Company; Oostburg State Bank(s); United One Credit Union; Waldo State Bank; Werner Homes and the SCHBA Office located at 637 Walton Dr. in Plymouth (located on the corner of State 23 and 57). Children 3 and under are free if parents are able to carry them through the homes.

The sponsor of this year’s event is Oostburg Lumber Company. In addition Culver’s is serving as the ticket sponsor for this year’s event. 40 lucky Parade goers will receive a $10 gift card to Culver’s by submitting their name at the last house they attend.
