Fair-ly begun

The 2016 Sheboygan County Fair kicked off Thursday on a clear, crisp September day with fun for everyone. A highlight of the first day’s events was the annual Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Contest (bottom three photos). After two heats, defending champion state Rep. Tyler Vorpagel retained his crown in a loaded baked potato eat-off with the other finalist, Sheboygan County 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator Linda Robson (bottom right). There were plenty of other activities throughout the fairgrounds, from the rides (cover) and games (above) on the Midway to duck and pig races (right), live music (below, right) and - of course - plenty of animals and livestock to pet, wash, feed, lead or just get close to. The day wound up with the tractor pull event on the grandstand. The fair ran five days, through Labor Day Monday. Thursday’s Review will have more photos and news from the fair.
