Music, history combine at county museum Saturday

The Sheboygan County Historical Society and Museum will be hosting their third annual History Hill Music Festival, sponsored by Legend Larry’s, Saturday, Sept. 10, 12 noon to 6 p.m., on the grounds of the museum, 3110 Erie Ave., Sheboygan.

Remember the days when the entire family would head to the park and spend an afternoon listening to the talented people from the community? The museum staff, Board of Directors and volunteers would like to offer that memory again. The scene will focus on the porch of the 1862 Weinhold Log Cabin where the three acts scheduled will perform. Come with a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the intimacy of an old-fashioned family gathering with some of the area’s best musicians while enjoying the wonderful view from History Hill in Taylor Park.

Hot Jupiter Hot Jupiter The afternoon starts at 12 noon with the duo Old Plank Road performing their take on old blues as well as some of the popular singer songwriters of recent years. Their harmonies and guitar play is sure to impress.

At 2 p.m., the up and coming band Classic Racket will be sharing their take of the sounds of the 70’s and 80’s with an acoustic twist. The quartet has been steadily performing in the county for a year, having developed quite the following with their unique renditions of the rock hits from that period.

The 4 p.m. hour will have the trio Hot Jupiter on the porch. Hot Jupiter’s young, energetic alternative rock sound will send you off with a smile.

History Hill Music Fest will also have fun, historic activities for the children to enjoy. From historic games to old fashioned instruments, the young ones will have fun as they learn about history.

Old Plank Road Old Plank Road The Historical Society will be offering beverages from 3 Sheeps Brewery as well as wine, soda and water. Enjoy a pulled pork sandwich or chicken sandwich on a fresh Sheboygan hardroll from Fuzzy’s Westside Bakery as well as light snacks to enjoy throughout the afternoon. The museum buildings will be open throughout the day for your enjoyment. We will be kicking off our annual Membership drive at the event where a dollar off coupon for food and drink purchases will be offered with each new membership or renewal of a previous membership.

Please join us this autumn afternoon on the museum grounds as we enjoy some of our best local musicians, drinks and food at one of Sheboygan County’s best hidden secrets, the Sheboygan County Historical Museum.
