SCHRC genealogy series begins

The Sheboygan County Historical Research Center has announced its schedule for the 2016-2017 season of genealogy classes.

All classes will take place at the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center, located at 518 Water St. in Sheboygan Falls.

Classes run from 1-3 p.m.

The first class titled Genealogy 101 will take place Monday, Sept. 12.

New to family history and ancestry research or an old pro? If you are a beginner or a seasoned genealogist, this class is for you. It will review the basics of good research, set up goals and schedules and discuss organization of data.

Those interested in genealogy are encouraged to get started at any age to see if it is something your children would be interested in (a project with you), do some storytelling about your ancestors or yourself or start a project to share family history with others.

Other genealogy classes on tap are Land Records and Property Research (Monday, Oct. 10), DNA and Genealogy (Monday, Nov. 14), German Genealogy (Monday, Dec. 12), Research Work Day (Monday, Jan. 9, 2017) and Research Work Day (Monday, Feb. 13).

All presentations are open to the public. Registration is preferred. Conversation is encouraged. Fun is expected.

For more information, contact the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center at 920-467-4667.

The series is made possible by funding from the John and Hilda Holden Memorial Fund.
