Fair awards special honors

Special awards were given in the Education-Household building at Sheboygan County Fair this year.

The Best-of-Show awards are a one time honor for the 100th anniversary of the Education-Household building. The special aqua ribbons and $10 premiums were sponsored anonymously for open class entries in the building.

The winner of the Education Best-of-Show was Morgan Cavanh from Lake Country Academy. The eighth grader drew a colored pencil portrait.

Other winners include Margaret Born with a family genealogy scrapbook, Joyce Smies sewed a blouse in Clothing, Mary Dalhaimer won in the Fabric and Needle Art category with a woven jacket, Lisa Pezzi-Balestreri earned the award for her scarf in Knitting and a shale by Nancy Kuehlmann-Schultz won for Crochet.

Linda Rasmussen’s Bread and Butter pickle entry won in the Canning class and Kendra Ford was given the Best-of-Show in Foods for her stollen.

The Woodworking top place was earned by Gary Gebler for his oval pieced cowboy with horse and calf.

A 100th anniversary Best-of-Show was awarded in each department in the building.
