Former Dean’s Verifine plant sold to Old World Creamery

Old World Creamery, an affiliate of Weyauwega Cheese, has recently purchased the former Dean’s/Verifine plant located at 1606 Erie Street in Sheboygan. The plant will serve as the headquarters for their newly formed butter making operation. The processing of locally produced cream being churned into butter, cream cheese and ice cream will employ over 100 new employees when fully operational in the fall of 2017. The initial planned product will be Sheboygan’s Old World Butter.

Initially, the company will be packaging butter as the plant is remodeled and the new equipment is installed. This phase of the project will begin in September, 2016 with the hiring of 20 employees.

The City of Sheboygan assisted the start of this new company by awarding a Community Development Block Grant loan to the company to assist with their initial hiring. These loans are intended to help new companies with their hiring process.
