LESTER “LES” LEYNSE

Les Leynse age 75 of Oostburg, WI passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning on his daily run for the Sunday paper at 5:00 A.M. at the Mini Mart.

Les Leynse was born July 30, 1941 in Sheboygan, WI, to Edward and Irma (Grimes) Leynse. He attended Waldo schools and graduated from WHS in 1959.

On February 18, 1961 he married Judith Ringel and they were married 55 years in 2016. They have resided in the Town of Holland since their marriage.

Les worked at FMC for 10 years and then it became Bolens in Port Washington, were he worked for an additional 35 years there until they closed. His passion was his union work, the IA of M AW District 10, local 1430. First being a union steward and then the shop chairman. His mentors were Howard Horn and Francis Feider and he learned it well. He immediately took the job with the dislocated workers program for eight years with offices in Milwaukee and Cedarburg and before retiring in 2006.

He had been a member of the Five Corners Snowmobile Club and helped draw up their first design on their patch. He also belonged to the Yeti Snowmobile Club in Adell. Les enjoyed deer hunting and trapshooting and going to Canada fishing. After retirement, he had his “man cave” in his garage where he made crafts, of all kinds, for anyone all year around. He made many wood chairs and benches and his motto there was like the Bemis logo, “BE SEATED BY LEYNSE!!!!”

Everyone who knows Les knows of his dry sense of humor and his most favorite song in the world was: “Juke Box” and the one line: prop me up beside the juke box if I die, and also enjoyed “Red Solo Cup”.

Les is survived by his wife: Judy; Two sons: Steven (Karen) and son Dan Leynse, Three grandchildren: Colin (Heather) Leynse, Ryan Leynse and Mallory Leynse (Fiance Randy Heinen). Three great grandchildren: Nolan Andrew and Nila Judith Leynse and Owen Lee. Brothers and Sisters in law: Carolyn Leynse, Kathy Ringel, Donna Mae Ringel, Bruce and Barb Lukens, Gene and Mary Sommers, Dennis and Pam Knuth, Darrell and Cindy Ringel. Les is also survived by his best friend and “Honorary Sister” Mary Ellen Luedtke along with many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Les was preceded in death by his parents: Ed and Irma, his daughter: Deborah Lynn, his mother and father in law: David and Mae Ringel, his brother: William, his brothers-in-law: Richard Ringel and Leon Ringel.

Following Les’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside committal service will be held on Monday morning (September 26, 2016) at 10:30 A.M. at the Hingham Cemetery for family and friends. Rev. Lorri Steward, Associate Pastor of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Sheboygan will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Les’s name.
