LOUIS MATT ZELEZNIKAR

Louis Matt Zeleznikar,age 92, of the Town of Rhine, passed away at Pine Haven Nursing Home, in Sheboygan Falls, WI, on September 11, 2016.

He was born on June 1, 1924 in Ely, Minnesota, a son of the late Matthew and Jenny (Mavetz) Zeleznikar.

Louis was known as beloved “Uncle Midge” to his many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by them all. Louis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He was employed by the US Postal Service before he served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Louis made trek from Ely, MN, to Milwaukee, WI as a young man out of the service to start his adult life.

Louis met his wife, Genevieve, while working for a printing service company, where he spent most of his career. Louis and Genny with young son, Brian, moved to Sheboygan, WI taking on a new challenge, starting up an in-house print shop for the then Heritage Insurance. He was a long time dedicated employee retiring from Acuity Insurance as the print shop manager.

Shortly after moving to Sheboygan they were blessed with their son David.

Louis always had a great smile on his face while greeting race fans at the gates of Road America in his retirement and enjoyed seeing the returning fans and co-workers year after year. He greatly enjoyed and was a proud member of the Elkhart Lake Lions Club earning the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. Louis loved the Milwaukee Braves and had season tickets, seeing greats like Hank Aaron and Joe Adcock. Louie was an avid Packer fan rarely missing a game on TV. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Bart Starr and Brett Favre eras bring Super Bowl Championships to Titletown.

He is survived by: Two Sons: David Zeleznikar (Fiancee Jennifer Schroeder) of Milwaukee and Brian Zeleznikar of Plymouth; One grandson: Michael (Jenny) Lauer of Plymouth; One granddaughter: Megan Kramer; Two Sisters-in-law: Elizabeth (Robert) Lambert of FL and Darlene (Charles) Kalkofen of Goodman, WI; Ex Daughter-in-law: Lisa Zeleznikar; and Three Step-granddaughters: Ariana Schroeder, Amy and Anna Verhulst.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Genevieve; Parents; Son: Mark Zeleznikar; Brothers: Matt (Jenny) Zeleznikar and Frank (Emma) Zeleznikar; Sisters: Rose (Hardy) Novak, Molly (Leo) Wilson, Kris (Arts) Garmi, and Jane (William) Yadlosky; And Two brothers-in-law: Ervin and Chester Klover.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday afternoon (September 17, 2016) at 1:00 P.M. at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Thomas Burton of St. John Lutheran Church will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Saturday (Sept. 17) at Suchon Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until time of Services.

Private Family Interment will follow at a later date in the Good Hope Cemetery in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Louis’ name.
