Huskies up first-place league record to 5-0

NEW HOLSTEIN – The New Holstein/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Huskies raised their first-place Eastern Wisconsin/Packerland Conference boys soccer record to 5-0 (6-3 overall) with a 3-0 win triumph over visiting Kewaunee Thursday night.

The Huskies, who have won five in a row, scored all of their goals in the second half. Josue Valenzuela’s penalty kick made it 1-0 at the 53:41 mark.

NH/EL-G scored again less than three minutes later when Storm goalie McLain Bolf was unable to hold on to the ball after Tyler Schultz missed a shot and then Oren Kes- tell kicked the ball in for a 2-0 lead.

Max Kossman tallied the final goal at the 75:16 mark.

“Our team is finally really starting to work as a unit and have figured out what each other can do. Our seniors are also stepping up and leading some of our younger guys on the field,” said Husky cohead coach Steve Conrad.

“Bolf did a very good job tonight.

We tested him from many different spots and were only able to find a couple small gaps. Our keeper Jordan Bahr did another great job tonight, coming out many times to beat their forwards to the ball.”

Bahr made 11 saves and Bolf had 24.

The Storm slipped to 1-1 in the conference (1-1-1 overall).
