Tigers’ Guse sixth in Crusader Challenge

Guse ran the 3.1-mile course in 21 minutes, 10 seconds. The winner was junior Katie Miller of Kettle Moraine Lutheran (Jackson) in 20:34.

Senior Jessica Mehre led Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah with a 19th-place showing in 22:00.

KML ran away with the girls title with 86 points. The runner-up was St. Mary’s Springs (Fond du Lac) with 143. HG finished 14th with 328, followed by EL-G at 333. The meet included 19 teams and 128 runners.

HG took 19th in the boys meet with 404 points. The Tigers were led by sophomore John Bell who took 37th with a time of 18:53 over 3.1 miles. The EL-G Resorters had an incomplete team. Their top runner was sophomore Ransom Yasko who finished 108th in 21:29.

Senior Jacob Wahlers of Algoma won the race in 16:55. The boys event included 139 competitors.

“What a great day for the Tigers. A total of nine athletes ran personalbest efforts today with many others closing in on career- best efforts themselves,” said Tiger heasd coach Gary Kalk.

“Veteran runners Sam Sixel, Dustin Eilers and Natalie Englebert shattered their PRs [personal records] while newcomers John Bell, Carson Moore, Emma Dehne, Lizzy Betke, Mattie Milz, and Elly Goedeke continue to impress.”
