Elaine H. Steinpreis, age 87, of Plymouth, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at St. Nicholas Hospital after a brief illness.

Elaine was born on September 5, 1929 in Plymouth, daughter of Fred and Laura (Wittkopp) Miske.

Elaine attended St. John Lutheran School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1947. While in high school she was a leader in the Walther League at St. John and worked at the Ben Franklin store in Plymouth. She also helped out the late George Mooney at the Wisconsin Cheese Exchange.

In the fall of 1947, George hired Elaine to help organize a new bank in Plymouth, Dairy State Bank. From that start in 1947, she continued her work there for the next 52 years until her retirement in January, 2000. During that time she served many roles, both fulltime and part-time, including bookkeeper, teller and head cashier. She also worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Miller’s Auto Clinic in Plymouth.

During her involvement with the Walther League, a Lutheran youth organization, she met Don Steinpreis from St. Mark’s Lutheran in Sheboygan. Don entered the Marine Corps and they stayed in contact through many letters. They were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth on August 11, 1951 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past August.

Elaine was very proud of being a charter member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League at St. John where she served as Secretary for many years and also a term as President. She also enjoyed playing dartball and bowling. She most enjoyed following her family in their activities and later on in life her grandchildren’s. It didn’t matter where or when it was, she made sure they got there to watch and cheer. If it was a sporting event, she kept track of scores and stats throughout the event and team members knew to go to her if they had any questions about their own results. For 25 years Elaine and Don followed their son’s bowling group to the National Bowling tournament held in various locations across the country by either plane, train or automobile, taking in the beauty of the United States along the way.

Faith and family were her priorities, she is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald, a son Robert (Margaret) Steinpreis of Sheboygan Falls, a daughter Diane (Joe) Tiry of Stanley, and a son Steve (Nancy) Steinpreis of Plymouth. Grandchildren Jaimie (Jeremy) Schlieckau, Tina (Ben) Uhlig, Jake Tiry, Lucas Tiry, Zachary Tiry, Caleb Tiry, Amanda (Jamie) Farr and Matt Steinpreis. Great grandchildren Julia and Jenna Schlieckau, Alexander Uhlig, Storm Tiry, Nicholas, Tyller and Gavin Farr. Also survived by her brother Gilbert (Meredith) Miske and cousins, nieces and nephews whom she cherished deeply.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; Son Ronald; Granddaughter Hannah Tiry; Niece Jenny Miske.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday evening, (September 22, 2016) at 6:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Rev. Nathan Meador, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Burial will take place with a family service on Friday morning at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
