Tigers win Pulaski Invite with 5-0 record
PULASKI – The Howards Grove Tigers won the Pulaski Girls Volleyball Invitational Saturday with a 5-0 dual record.
The Tigers swept all five of their opponents – defeating Oconto Falls (25-16, 25-12), Marinette (25-12, 25-9), Freedom (25-10, 25-21), West De Pere (25-16, 25-12) and Pulaski (25-20, 25-13).
Senior outside hitter Sam Yancy became the Tigers’ all- time leader in kills during the tournament as she passed Amanda Horness.
Yancy led HG in kills during the tourney with 51 and Olivia Stauss added 17. Taylor Bubolz had a team-high 89 assists.
Brittany Schaller paced the Tigers in digs with 43 and Emily
Schmid had 21. Paige Splittgerber had a team-best six ace serves.
“We played mentally strong all-day long. Our serve receive was the key to our success,” said Tiger head coach Brett Damrow.
“We came away from the weekend knowing we need to still be more consistent in our out-of-system attacking, and [have] better eye work and hand position in our booking.”
