Panthers sweep events, roll to dual win

PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth Panthers won all 12 events as they cruised to a 133-40 win over Two Rivers/Manitowoc Roncalli in an Eastern Wisconsin Conference girls swimming and diving meet Thursday night at the Mike Slagle Aquatic Center.

PHS upped its EWC dual record to 2-1 (5-1 overall).

Senior Allison Pieper and junior Katy Coley won two events each to lead the Panthers. Pieper took first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 42.88 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:12.76. Coley captured the 50 and 200 freestyle races in 27.01 seconds and 2:10.52; respectively.

Coley also swam on the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Panther head coach Dave Coley was pleased with the varsity and junior varsity teams as he mixed up his lineups for both.

“The Two Rivers meet was a good opportunity for us to test our swimmers in unusual events. Aurora Bosia swam a strong 500 [freestyle] and Keely Kuru did a great job in the [100] breaststroke,” said coach Coley.

Bosia won the varsity 500 and Kuru took first in the breaststroke.

PHS sophomore Sydney Kalk scored a career-best 206.05 points to win the varsity diving event which included six dives.

“The Plymouth divers dove very well. The four new divers showed massive improvement over last week. Everyone had season best scores,” said PHS diving coach Greg Heberlein.

The four new divers are Lauren Flood, Ella Tesky, Caitlin McEvoy and Jovianne Schwibinger.

“We have a large group of upand coming swimmers and some of them showed that they are ready to branch out. Two standouts last night were Morgan Walcott in the 50 free and Morgan Phipps in the 100 backstroke,” said coach Coley.

Walcott and Phipps won the JV 50 freestyle and backstroke, respectively.

PHS won the JV meet, 145-7.
