Senior quarterback Jared Shaw ran for six touchdowns and passed for another to spark the Resorters’ attack. Shaw rushed for a gamehigh 130 yards.

Elkhart’s defense held the Crusaders to minus-18 yards on the ground.

Elkhart, which snapped a twogame losing streak, upped its South Division record to 2-3 (3-3 overall). The Crusaders fell to 0-4 in the division (0-4 overall).

“This was the best we’ve played all year. We put it all together and eliminated our mistakes,” said Resorter head coach Josh Bardon.

“Homecoming was a great atmopshere and our players brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm. It was a total team effort.”

The Resorters blew the game open by outscoring Maranatha 31-0 in the first quarter as Shaw scored all four TDs in the period.

The Resorters’ defense gave the offense good field position several times and Elkhart took advantage of it with numerous scores. One Resorter TD was set up by a bad Crusader punt snap which gave the home team the ball at the Maranatha 5-yard line.

Junior linebacker Troy Rebedew led the Resorters’ defense in solo tackles with 13. EL-G had a strong pass rush, led by defensive end Andrew Sitko and defensive lineman Regan Dippel who had a team-high 2½ quarterback sacks each.

“Our [run] blocking was awesome. We got great pressure up front [on pass rushes]. Our linebackers and cornerbacks had great run support, and the defensive tackles and ends did their jobs [against the run],” said Bardon.
