Panthers perform well at Small School State

SHOREWOOD – The Plymouth Panthers had several bright spots at the Small School State Invitational girls swimming and diving meet here Saturday.

PHS was led by junior Katy Col- ey who finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 3.28 seconds. In the 11-dive event, the Panthers were paced by senior Savannah Arneson who took ninth with a score of 314.60 points.

The Panthers placed 12th in the 17-team field with 104 points. Defending Division 2 state champion Madison Edgewood won the meet with 387. Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran/ Sheboygan Falls placed seventh at 152. The meet included several top D-2 teams.

“We had a good trip [performance] to the Small School Invite. Our swimmers and divers performed well under pressure,” said Panther head coach Dave Coley.

“Our 200 freestyle relay dropped two more seconds, keeping us in the hunt for a state qualification. We had a good number of best times in spite of being tired. The taper should help us in a few weeks.”

The Panthers’ 200 freestyle relay posted a season-best 1:46.94 en route to finishing eighth. The relay included Coley, Libby Tournour, Gwen Nytes and Aurora Bosia.

Jenna Silvestri led Kohler/Lutheran/ Falls with a first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.25 and a second in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.78.
