SCHRC Saturday Saturdays program to feature ‘Farm Memories from Yesterday’

The Sheboygan County Historical Research Center in Sheboygan Falls will continue its schedule for the 2016-2017 Second Saturdays- Journeys into Local History speaker series Saturday, Nov. 12.

Jerry Apps, author and historian, will present “Farm Memories from Yesterday,” from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m at the Plymouth Arts Center, located at 520 East Mill St. in Plymouth.

Apps will spend time remembering the days of lamps and lanterns, wood-stoves and the smell of wood smoke, Saturday night baths, the importance of neighbors, one-room schools, Christmas on the farm, partyline telephones, and Captain Midnight on the battery-operated radio.

These are stories that appear in several of Apps’ books He will also have his newest volume, “Roshara Journal” available for sale.

All presentations are open to the public with no reservations necessary. Conversation is encouraged and fun is expected.

The series is made possible by funding from the John and Hilda Holden Memorial Fund and Wisconsin Humanities Council.
