Concert series support sought

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is again partnering with the City of Sheboygan and Sheboygan Squared to rally votes for a $25,000 Levitt AMP matching grant to support a series of free concerts in summer 2017. Voting begins Tuesday, Nov. 1, at grant.levittamp.org.

In both 2015 and 2016, Sheboygan garnered the most votes among the small to mid-size cities across America seeking the award. Online voting determines the 25 finalists that will be considered for the 15 grants available. Grant winners will be announced Jan. 5, 2017.

The series, produced by the Arts Center and staged outdoors at New York Avenue and North Seventh Street in downtown Sheboygan, will feature 10 events showcasing a variety of musical styles performed by nationally and internationally known headliners as well as local acts. Last year’s performances included mariachi, R&B, bluegrass, new wave pop, and bhangra among others.

Supporters can also stop at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, 608 New York Ave., Sheboygan, and vote at the reception desk. Online voting runs through Nov. 21 at grant.levittamp.org.
