HG grads excel in college volleyball

Autumn Risch and Ali Schueler, 2015 Howards Grove High School graduates, are making key contributions for their respective women’s college volleyball teams this season.

Risch is a sophomore setter at Minnesota State University (Mankato) and leads the Mavericks in assists with 965 (10.38 per set) through Oct. 29 play. She ranks third on the squad in digs with 198 (2.13 per set) and has 55 kills and 13 ace serves.

Schueler is a redshirt freshman defensive specialist/libero for the University of Minnesota-Crookston Golden Eagles. She leads her team in digs with 298 (3.92 per set) through Oct. 29. Schueler is third in ace serves with 20 and has contributed 14 assists. She has an 0.41-receiving-error average per set.

Minnesota State and Minnesota-Crookston, both NCAA Division II schools, play in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Golden Eagles defeated the Mavericks in league play on Sept. 24.

Schueler and Risch helped lead the HG Tigers to the Division 3 state tournament semifinals in 2014 and were all-state honorable mention that season.
