Exhibit features travel paintings

"Planes, Trains and Automobiles" is the title of the latest exhibition at the University of Wisconsin- Sheboygan.

The art is the work of Sheboygan artist, Keary Kautzer, and features 40 original paintings. Kautzer’s paintings provide a visual record of where he has been and what he has seen.

The exhibition is mainly in watercolors, depicting water and landscape scenes, with the majority painted en plein air in the style of the American Modernists. His art will be on display through Nov. 30.

The public is welcome and there is no admission charge. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday (9 a.m.-9 p.m.) and Friday (8 a.m.- 6 p.m.). The gallery is located inside the Fine Arts Building on the UW-Sheboygan campus which is located at One University Drive in Sheboygan.

According to Kautzer, his goal with each painting was to “keep it simple,” a concept that his mentor, James Michael always stressed. Kautzer is a member of the Wisconsin Watercolor Society, Water’s Edge Artists, Transparent Watercolor Society of America, Wisconsin Plein Aire Painters Association, and the Sheboygan Visual Artists.
