Wombats fall in men’s basketball

WEST BEND – The UW-Sheboygan men’s basketball team was unable to overcome a 16-point halftime deficit as it fell to UW-Washington County, 87-77, here Wednesday night.

UW-S committed 18 turnovers in the first half. The Wombats rallied to within five in the second half.

The loss dropped the Wombats’ Wisconsin Collegiate Conference record to 1-1 (2-1 overall).

TJ Pitsch from Sheboygan South and Nate Serketich of Sheboygan North led the Wombats’ attack with 17 points each. Ollie Sadiq from Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah chipped in with 15.

Evan Rathke, a Random Lake graduate, led the Wildcats’ scoring with 21.

The Wombats will host UW-Marshfield Friday at 6 p.m. at Jack Snyder Court.
