Deer donations sought

The Sheboygan County Planning and Conservation Department is pleased to announce it is again participating in the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Deer (DNR) Donation Program.

If you would like to help the hungry in Sheboygan County this year by donating your harvested deer, please contact the following participating meat processor: Howards Grove Meat Market (920) 565-2215, 211 S. Wisconsin Dr., Howards Grove.

Please also contact the operator to verify participation and donate your deer prior to Jan. 31, 2017.

Prior to donating, field dress the deer, register it and write your registration confirmation number on the carcass tag. If you donate the entire deer, the processing fee will be waived. (Note: head and/or antlers may be removed for mounting).

Please handle the carcass as if it were destined for your own table. A couple bags of ice placed in the cavity will help preserve the carcass in warm weather.

When dropping your deer off at the processor, please complete the log sheet indicating your desire to donate the deer.

For more information on the deer donation program please visit the DNR website and type in the search words “deer donation.”
