Locals in Ironman Triathlon

Jake Ohman (left) and Eric Roberts, 2013 Plymouth High School graduates, cross the finish line together in the Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon Sept. 11 in Madison. The event included a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike race and a 26.2-mile run (full marathon). Ohman finished 23rd and Roberts 24th in the men’s 18-24 age bracket, both with times of 12 hours, 27 minutes. The Ironman drew about 1,200 competitors overall. Ohman and Roberts are seniors at UW-Madison and are studying biology. These close friends joined the UW Badger Triathlon Team as freshmen and have competed in several triathlons. As an alternative to paying the $800 entry fee for the Ironman they joined the Choroideremia Research Foundation team. Each member of the team committed to raising $5,000 to help find a cure for Choroideremia, a disease that causes blindness.
