Daniel J. Koenigs, age 73, of Plymouth, passed away Thursday Evening (November 17, 2016) at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 11, 1943, in Johnsburg, WI, a son of the late Hugo and Ann (Steffes) Koenigs.

He attended grade school at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Marytown and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1961.

On June 4, 1966 he married Donna Stephany in Mt. Calvary, WI. The couple has resided in the Plymouth area since their marriage.

Dan worked as a meat cutter at Lauer’s Food Mart for 10 years and then Piggly Wiggly for 35 years, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Dan enjoyed his time in the woods with nature, making wine, fixing bikes, picking hickory nuts, refinishing antique furniture and spending precious time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Donna of Plymouth, his children: Christopher Koenings and Les Koenings of Plymouth, Dawn (Bill) Mueller of Kiel, WI, Sandra Hyer of Plymouth, WI and Eric Koenigs of Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Anastasia (Ana), Asa, and Ivan Hyer and Elizabeth (Ellie) and Danielle Mueller; brothers: Anthony (Loretta) Koenigs, Lawrence (Jean) Koenigs, Matthew (Nancy) Koenigs, Patrick (Karen) Koenigs; sisters: Kathleen Rabe, Mary Ann (Lawrence) Sinclair, Cele (Robert) St. Lawrence, Grace (Larry) Hanke, Christine (Ronald) Schwenck; sister-in-law: Anne Koenigs; brothersin laws: Paul (Linda) Schmitz and Jerome (Gail) Stephany; His father-in-law: Anthony Schmitz.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hugo and Ann Koenigs; brother: Nick Koenigs; two sisters: Phyllis Koenigs and Rosalie Koenigs; brother-inlaw: Ronald Rabe; mother-in-law: Francine Stephany Schmitz.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday Evening (November 22, 2016) at 6:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Father Dennis Van Beek, pastor of the Church will officiate. Cremation will take place following the services and inurnment will be parish cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday (Nov. 22) from 3:00 P.M. at the church until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Daniel’s name.
