County firms offer co-ops to students

Sheboygan County – Inspire Sheboygan County is leading the charge to connect high school students with career opportunities at local companies. Over 40 paid co-ops are being offered. Co-ops students will earn $10/ hour, work 75-90 hours within an academic quarter. Co-ops are currently concentrated in skilled manufacturing/engineering opportunities; however, Inspire Sheboygan County intends to expand these opportunities to including multiple career paths.

The companies currently participating include: American Orthodontics, Bemis Manufacturing, Curt G. Joa, Kohler Company, Johnsonville Sausage, Rockline Industries, Sargento Foods and the Vollrath Company. All Sheboygan County Public Schools are eligible to participate.

The student’s experience allows them to gain insight in a variety of family-wage sustaining, skilled manufacturing-based opportunities with these companies. Interested students and parents should fill out an application form available at https:// goo.gl/vBzVvr. Information can also be obtained from high school counselors offices.

Parents and students will need to attend an Information Night as part of the application process.

Co-op placements will begin in January 2017. For more information, please contact Nikki Kiss at nkiss@inspiresheboygancounty.org or 920.562.4484
