Resource directory now available

Every two years, Mental Health America in Sheboygan County (MHA) updates its Directory of Community Resources, a comprehensive guide with over two-hundred area agency and program listings.

Resource category areas included in the directory are financial assistance, employment, disability, mental health, housing, legal, transportation, Veteran services, and youth and family services to name a few.

New to the directory this year is the Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Options Guide, which is a step-by-step informational guide specific to alcohol and other drug abuse treatment services developed in partnership with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department and the Healthy Sheboygan County 2020 Coalition as an appendix, as well as a section dedicated to helplines, text lines and other online and national resources.

The completed directory is a valuable resource for schools, law enforcement agencies, health care providers, community organizations, businesses, human resource professionals, families and all individuals in Sheboygan County.

Thanks to generous grantors, including John C. and Katherine B. Miller Charitable Fund of Lakeshore Community Foundation, Charles E. Kubly Foundation and the United Way of Sheboygan County, MHA has printed 2,400 copies for disbursement.

Taking care of one’s mental health is just as important as taking care of one’s physical health.

Overall health includes a healthy lifestyle, stress management, addressing mental health and physical health concerns when they arise, and taking time to be present and in the moment with friends and family.

The objectives of the directory are to increase access to local resources and to provide hope and support to all members of Sheboygan County so they can live a healthy life.

The Directory of Community Resources, Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Options Guide, and the confidential referral and consultations are just a part of what types of services MHA provides to the community.

MHA is a non-profit mental health resource center serving Sheboygan County since 1963.

Program focus areas include education (general mental health education and mindfulness), access to care, and recovery/support services.

On average, MHA provides 1,000 confidential referrals and consultations to mental health professionals & community resources each year as part of the Access to Care focus area.
