Maywood hosts winter weekend

Wishing for Winter, a celebration of all things winter, will be held at Maywood December 2 and 3 from 6-9pm each evening. This popular family event is being revived after receiving many requests for its return.

Guests of all ages can enjoy activities outside and indoors. A candlelit walk along Maywood’s trails highlights the outdoor activities. Visitors will enjoy escaping the hustle and bustle of the season to take in the quiet of nature in the evening. Horse-drawn wagon rides through a portion of the park will also be offered. There will be storytelling and marshmallow roasting by a campfire. Children can peek inside Santa’s workshop to see a display of vintage toys and make wishes at the Wishing Bridge.

Indoors, visitors can view the many trees and decorations prepared by area garden clubs and Maywood volunteers. The Kohler High School Madrigal singers will provide entertainment both evenings. A nature craft area will allow children to create their own natural decoration to take home. Mrs. Claus will be on hand to accept letters to Santa. Visitors can enjoy seeing the Clauses living room decorated with a collection of vintage toys. Snacks and hot chocolate will be available on a donation basis.

Admission to the event is free to Association members and $5/person for the general public. Family memberships can be purchased at the door for $20/year and include admission to the event.
