‘Blue Christmas’ service planned

In 1957 Elvis Presley recorded “I’ll have a blue Christmas without you. I’ll be so blue thinking about you.” Elvis didn’t write “Blue Christmas,” but he did make us aware of the sense of loss many of us have during the holidays.

First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1405 State 67, Plymouth, will conduct a Blue Christmas service Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.

The service is for anyone who has experienced or is experiencing a loss of a loved one, a family pet, time away from home and family, or any loss of any kind, no matter how long ago.

The gathering is a simple service of prayer, scripture, song and candle lighting designed for healing, hope and just to let you know that you are not alone, you are never alone. Consider this your invitation to a safe place to speak aloud of the loss you grieve or sit and remember. Grieving takes a lifetime.

You are welcome at First Congregational UCC whoever you are and wherever you are on your life’s journey.
