PLYMOUTH – The Plan Commission approved expanded parking for the strip mall at 540 Walton Dr. Thursday.

The commission also approved a land division for property at the corner of State 67 and Hill and Dale Road.

The addition of 33 parking spaces at the commercial mall that houses the Dollar Tree store and Anytime Fitness will come on the north end of the property.

Anne Blanke of Abacus Architects told the commission the expansion is to accommodate a new tenant in the northern space at the mall.

Mayor Donald Pohlman noted that the project will include extension of the driveway around the north end of the building and along the west – or back – side to connect to Kiley Way west of the mall.

The commission recommended approval of a certified survey map of land at the southwest corner of State 67 and Hill and Dale Road to the City Council.

“We’re taking the school district property and subdividing it into two parcels,” surveyor Tom Wood explained.

The larger 14.4-acre lot 1 to the west will house a 96-unit apartment development by Premier Real Estate Management which the commission approved last month.

The school district will retain ownership of the 4.78-acre lot 2 on the corner.

The map includes an easement for a city water main loop with the apartment development.

The council will act on the recommendation at their Dec. 13 meeting.
