Mary Ellen McGuire (nee Cotter) entered into the fullness of eternal life on December 1st, 2016 at the age of 88.

Mary was born in Chicago August 9,1928, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth McAuliffe Cotter.

She was a longtime resident of Sheboygan and the wife of Arvid McGuire for 63 years. Mary was a loving mother of Peggy (Jeff) Lubach, Nancy (Gary) Gritt, Molly (Andy) Kautz, Katie (Ken) Grizzle, Michael (Carrie) McGuire, and Tom (Barbara)Mc- Guire; proud grandmother of Maura, Julie, Greg, John, Brenna, Jane, Anne Marie, Tom, Joe, Matthew, Austin, Michael, Ben, and Jack; great-grandmother to Evelyn, Dylan, Levi, Isabelle, Vivian, Vincent, Adella, Ellison, Gabriel; dear sister of Katherine Meeker and Nancy (Nick) Valenziano; and her brother-inlaw Mike (Judy) McGuire. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, mother and father-in-law, Lula and Raymond McGuire, two brothers-in-law, Bill Meeker and Francis Gilles and her two sisters-in-law, Ellen McGuire and Sis Gilles.

Mary was a graduate of the College of St. Teresa with a bachelor degree in Foods and Nutrition and was a Registered Dietitian at several facilities in Sheboygan County. She was an active member of St. Clement Church for 50 years involved and committed to her faith and her parish and who strongly believed in a faith-filled community. She spent many hours as an active St. Vincent de Paul volunteer and was dedicated to helping the poor and the less fortunate. Her good deeds were performed with kindness and a good sense of humor. Above all else she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and took great pleasure in all their goodness and accomplishments.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 707 N. 6th St., Sheboygan with Rev. Matthew J. Widder officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.
