Youth book fests seek sponsors

Sheboygan County Reads, Inc. is seeking sponsors for the 2017 Sheboygan Children’s Book Festival and the Sheboygan Teen Book Festival.

The Sheboygan Children’s and Teen Book Festivals bring awardwinning authors and illustrators to the community to visit area schools and make free public presentations that generate enthusiasm for books, reading, writing and art.

With interactive presentations by accomplished book creators, readings, hands-on art and writing workshops, costumed book characters, author/illustrator trading cards, a bedtime pajama concert, and many other fun activities, the SCTBF nurtures the literary and artistic culture for young people in our community.

It brings the resources of numerous community organizations together to publicly celebrate and promote reading, which is widely recognized as the foundation of education and life-long learning.

The festivals will take place Oct. 13 – 15, 2017. Festival venues include Mead Public Library, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Bookworm Gardens and the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts.

Attendance at the 2016 festival events topped 8,000. Among the sponsors of the 2016 festival were the Mead Public Library Foundation, Dynamic, Inc., the Kohler Foundation, the Bemis Family Foundation, the Garton Family Foundation, and Book World, Sheboygan.

The Sheboygan Children's Book Festival and Sheboygan Teen Book Festival are programs of Sheboygan County Reads Inc.
