PHS, EL have champs in mat invite

PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth Panthers and the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah/ Howards Grove Resorters crowned two champions each in Saturday’s Plymouth Freshman/First-Timer Wrestling Invitational. The Panthers’ champions are sophomores Jack Nytes and Ben Meyer (both 3-0 in the meet) at 149 and 210 pounds, respectively, with two pins each. Earning first places for the Resorters were freshmen Ben Meiselwitz and Kurt Theobald (each 3-0) at 144 and 166, respectively, with two pins apiece. Plymouth’s other place-winners included: second place – Jack Miller at 100, Andrew Steinhardt, 104 and Brady Pratt at 133; third – Joe Mertes, 143 and Isaac Fintak, 152; and fourth – Eli Sanborn at 144.

UW-S falls to Muskies in basketball

HOWARDS GROVE – The UW-Sheboygan men’s basketball team fell to the host Lakeland College varsity reserves, 71-56, in nonconference play Monday night. The Muskies outscored UW-S 52-24 in the second half after trailing 32-19 at halftime. The Muskies’ pressing defense sparked their big second half. Alex Antonie from Sheboygan Falls led the Wombats’ offense with 19 points. DeVonte Maynard paced the Muskies with 24. In their two previous games (both in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference), the Wombats lost to UW-Waukesha, 102-61, on Nov. 30 and defeated UW-Manitowoc, 70-56, on Nov. 28.
