“This was one of our better overall games this year,” said Panther head coach Brad Shutter.

“Our intensity was good overall. The three-balls – we’ve been shooting them very well lately. Defensively, we held their two big girls [6-foot post Makenzie Becker and 6-2 post Sadie Kosciuk] down.”

The Panthers buried eight three-pointers, led by senior point guard Emily Majerus who hit three. Plymouth’s trapping, pressing defense had an impressive 20 steals. The Wolves committed a whopping 32 turnovers.

“Our press sped them up and made them play faster than they wanted to. Our press and halfcourt trap worked well,” said Shutter.

The Panthers upped their first-place East Central Conference record to 3-0 (5-1 overall) and ran their winning streak to three. Winneconne dropped to 1-2 in the ECC (3-2 overall).

PHS ripped off 12-0 run in the first half to build a 25-9 lead with 7:25 left in the first half. Five Panthers scored during the stretch, led by Lydia Rhude with a trey and Lexi Lautenschlaeger’s three-point play off a fast break. The Panthers were in command the rest of the game.

The Panthers seized a 37- 20 halftime lead, sparked by Majerus who scored 10 points, including a pair of three-point goals. Majerus finished the night
