Resorters’ offense struggles in BEC defeat

MISHICOT – The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters’ recent shooting woes continued as they tumbled to Mishicot, 46-33, in a girls basketball match-up here Thursday night.

EL-G shot only 20 percent (8 of 40) from the field. In their previous game, the Resorters hit just 24 percent from the floor in a 59-40 loss to St. Mary Catholic (Neenah) on Dec. 9.

“We had a hard time scoring versus their zone defense. We had some good looks but the ball wouldn’t drop for us,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

The Resorters dropped to 2-3 in the Big East Conference (2-4 overall). The Indians improved to 2-2 in the BEC (3-2 overall).

“The game was a 5-8-point game for most of the game. Mishicot pulled away in the final minute,” said Kulow.

“The kids gave what they had versus a physical Mishicot team. We were very limited as far as person- nel. We have been battling injury and now sickness for most of the season.

“We just need to get healthy as a team. We have not been at full strength all year. The Christmas break can’t get here soon enough,” said the coach.

Senior guard Sonia Schubert led EL-G in scoring with 18 points and steals, four. Maddie Schneider had a team-high six rebounds and two assists.

Schneider and Ellie Ausloos contributed two assists each for Elkhart. Kianna Bahr led in blocked shots with two.

Brianna Groelle led the Indians’ balanced offense with 10 points. Mishicot had six players with at least five points.
