Ruth Martha Gilman, age 95, of Plymouth, passed away Friday afternoon, Dec. 23, 2016, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, after a very brief stay.

Ruth was born in Sheboygan on April 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Sigmund and Eleanore (Henning) Hoehnke.

She graduated from Kohler High School in 1939 and also attended the Sheboygan Business College.

On November 11, 1947, she married Gilbert “Gib” G. Gilman in Kohler WI. The couple resided in Plymouth, since their marriage. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2014.

Ruth had worked at the Kohler Company for 13 years, in the purchasing department, and at the Plymouth High School library, for 17 years, before retiring in 1985.

She was a past member of the Kohler Woman’s Club, the Shoreline Woman’s Club, was a present member of the Plymouth Woman’s Club, where she served the club in various capacities, since 1957. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

She will always be remembered for her passion for bridge and her many bridge marathons, as well as all Wisconsin sports.

Ruth is survived by her son; Richard Gilman of Manitowish Waters, WI, and one granddaughter, Nicole L. Gilman of Manitowish Waters and Duluth, MN.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband: Gib; her parents; one brother: Sigmund Jr. and his late wife.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning (January 4, 2017) at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Plymouth. Father Dennis Van Beek will officiate.

Friends and relatives are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:00 A.M. for the committal services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ruth’s name.
