PHS sophomore killed in crash

A 16-year-old Plymouth High School sophomore was killed Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash on County U in the town of Lyndon.

Jodeen L. Hinz, 16, of Adell was westbound on County U east of Elderberry Lane around 7 a.m. when her truck hit a patch of black ice. Hinz lost control and went into the south ditch, striking trees, according to the report from Lt. John Detienne of the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department.

Hinz, who was not wearing her seat belt, was ejected from the truck and died at the scene. Her 16-year-old passenger was uninjured.

Deputies, along with Plymouth Fire Department and Orange Cross Ambulance, responded to the scene and investigated the crash.

“We are grieving the loss of one of our students, who passed away in a car accident this morning. We are very saddened by this event, and our condolences go out to the family,” Plymouth School Superintendent Carrie Dassow said in a statement.
