Arts Center hosts variety of winter classes

The Plymouth Arts Center offers a wide variety of ongoing classes for all ages. The classes range from one day workshops, drop-in events, and weekly classes. The instructors are accomplished artists and performers who will lead the beginner and experienced in exploration of engaging art making.

This January the Plymouth Arts Center begins its creative offerings with Lori Beringer’s on-going Open Studio classes. The classes are held four times per month and are designed for beginner to advanced oil painting students. Students will gather to learn new techniques in oil painting, get instructive critiques, and advance their skillseach class offers an afternoon evening session. Beringer will also be leading a monthly Life Study class with a live clothed model. In this series of classes students can choose to work in any medium they would like to bring along. Beringer will begin the day with insightful instruction and end the day with a group critique to discuss the finished art work. Artist of all skill levels are invited to participate.

The beginning of February’s education offerings will continue with Beringer’s classes with the addition of artists Mel Kolstad and Jolynn Van Asten. Each of these teaching artists will be leading classes for our youth patrons. Kolstad will offer a fun Mono-print class, Mono-Print 101, for youth ages 8-12. It will be a fun filled morning making Gelli plate prints and is ideal for creative beginners and more experienced young artists. Van Asten will be leading a mother/ daughter portrait collage class, Fab Faces. The Fab Faces class explores mother/daughter relationships through collage and art journaling.

February wraps up with the wonderful Pat Reiher, a retired art teacher with many talents excited to share her skill in cold fusion jewelry making. Students will design and create their own unique jewelry using metals and found materials.
