PHS scored 171.5 points in the 16-team meet. Franklin won the championship with 435 and Grafton took second at 298.

“We had a great meet with all our young guys – lots of sophomores and freshmen,” said Panther head coach Clare Sedlacek.

“We were the second-highest Division 2-placing team behind second-place Grafton. That says a lot about our team.”

Senior Harrison Strutz led PHS with a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best 58.07 seconds. Strutz also earned third in the 50 freestyle with a career-best 23.19 and was on the Panthers’ two relays which finished in the top six – 200 medley at fourth and 200 freestyle, sixth.

“Harrison Strutz had an absolutely fabulous day,” said Sedlacek.

The Panthers were led in diving by senior Riley Josephs who took third with a score of 347.55 points for 11 dives. The place is the highest for a PHS diver in this meet since Mitchell Spaeth’s second in 2009.

“Riley Josephs had a great day,” said the coach.

“Leander Leinen [foreign-exchange student from Germany] also had a season’s best in the 200 individual medley with 2 minutes, 15.57 seconds [for sixth place] and Davis Dejus [foreignexchange student from Latvia] tied for 12th, scoring 4.5 points. That one-half point helped us beat Wauwatosa by one-half point.”

The Panthers hosted a triangular meet against Berlin/Green Lake and Brillion/Chilton/ Valders Thursday night. B/V/C won the Eastern Wisconsin Conference varsity meet with 136 points, followed by PHS at 125 and Berlin/GL with 31. Triangular results were unavailable.
