Ernst V. “Ernie” Wuestenhagen, 92, of Sheboygan Falls died on Monday morning, January 23, 2017 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center while surrounded by his family.

Ernie was born on September 5, 1924 in Sheboygan, the son of Ernst F. and Olga (Marohn) Wuestenhagen. He was a 1942 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School. He served his country while in the US Army during World War II. On June 12, 1976 Ernie married Germaine (Gehrig) Schultz in Sheboygan Falls. Ernie worked with his father at the Fessler Red Bell Grocery Store in Sheboygan Falls for many years. Following, he was a foreman at Richardson Furniture Co. until his retirement. Ernie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls and served as Fire Chief for the Sheboygan Falls Fire Dept. for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, mowing lawn and caring for his cottage.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Germaine of Sheboygan Falls; one daughter, Karla (Sam) Lawrence of Poynette; two sons, Patrick (Ruth) Schultz of Madison and Tim (Joy) Wuestenhagen of North Branch, MN; seven grandchildren, Mary (Peter) Lawrence-Wehrle, Carolyn Schultz, Neal Lawrence, Nicholas Schultz, Katherine Lawrence, Aaron Wuestenhagen and David Wuestenhagen. Ernie is also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A service to celebrate Ernie’s life will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11 am with the Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Inurnment will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends will gather at the church on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 10 am until the time of the service.

A memorial fund is being established in his memory for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center, the Sheboygan County Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
