Cold spell hurts Resorters in BEC loss

REEDSVILLE – A scoring drought early in the second half hurt the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters as they lost to Reedsville, 50-41, in girls basketball action here Thursday night.

The Resorters slipped to 3-6 in the Big East Conference (3-9 overall). The Panthers improved to 4-5 in the BEC (8-5 overall).

Elkhart started the second half 0-for-7 from the field and fell behind by 11 after trailing only 24-23 at halftime. The Resorters climbed to within six in the second half but were unable to come any closer.

The Resorters shot only 26 percent from the field.

Senior guard Camrie Schmitz led EL-G in scoring with 14 points and Kianna Bahr hit 11.

Sonia Schubert paced the Resorters in rebounds with nine and assists, four. Elkhart had an impressive 18 steals, led by Schmitz with six and Claire Feldmann, four.

“Camrie played well on both ends of the floor which is a good sign and gives us much needed of- fensive help,” said Resorter head coach Donny Kulow.

Kulow said a bright spot for his team was committing just 13 turnovers.

Faith Lubner led a balanced Panther attack with 13 points.
