Shooting woes hurt Tigers in league defeat

SHEBOYGAN – The Howards Grove Tigers shot only 29 percent - Sheboygan Lutheran, 52-44, in Big East Conference boys basketball play here Friday night.

“The Lutheran game was a tough one for us. We didn’t play very well and the credit goes to the kids from Sheboygan Lutheran. They hustled and made us work for everything,” said Tiger head coach Wade Georgeff.

“Now we did shoot 29 percent for the game which hurt but they came up with the big plays when they needed them.”

Bryce Pedrin led HG in scoring with 10 points and assists, two. Eric Reinemann had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Jared Jurss paced Lutheran’s attack with 14 points.

“Outside of the shooting we played pretty well – holding them to well below their average offensively,” said Georgeff.


The HG JV 2 team improved to 12-0 in the BEC (17-0) with a 59- 49 win. Gavin Winter led the Tigers’ scoring with 19 points and Nic Koening had 10.

In their previous game Jan. 31, the Tigers defeated visiting Hilbert, 39- 25. Justin Miller led HG in scoring with 12 and Dylan Barutha tallied 11.
